The Vincent Award is an initiative of the Broere Charitable Foundation. The Broere Charitable Foundation was established by the late Jacobus and Bastiaan Broere, founders of a Dordrecht-based shipping and oil storage company known as Gebroeders Broere N.V. The Foundation’s main aim is to stimulate medical research but it also supports cultural initiatives.
The Foundation’s Trustees instituted the Vincent Award in memory of the late Monique Zajfen, a beloved friend of the Broere family and a patron of the arts with a strong commitment to and passion for contemporary art.
The Broere Charitable Foundation owns two different art collections. The Broere Charitable Foundation Collection comprises older and modern art, while the Monique Zajfen Collection is related to the Vincent Award and is composed entirely of contemporary art.
